Carrizo Springs hasn't had much luck against Pleasanton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Carrizo Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Carrizo Springs is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cigarroa.
Dereck Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. Tristan Navarro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Pleasanton waltzed into their game on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls).
Jayden Arrendondo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Arrendondo was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Wiggins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Erik Coronado, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Pleasanton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Carrizo Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Carrizo Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Pleasanton struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carrizo Springs suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Pleasanton in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
