The Monessen Greyhounds came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 76-34 win over California. Monessen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.
California lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caden Monticelli, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Monticelli scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jahiem Derns, who scored five points.
Monessen's victory was their 18th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20.78 points. As for California, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Monessen will be playing in front of their home fans against West Greene at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. California won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bentworth at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Bentworth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
