Basketball Recap: Rocky Mount Prep Takes a Loss

If Rocky Mount Prep was riding high fresh off their 50-9 takedown of KIPP P last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars were outmatched by the Weldon Chargers and fell 55-24. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-27 back in January.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jada Silver, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. Silver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mykhalah Lynch, who earned four points and 11 boards.

Rocky Mount Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Weldon, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Rocky Mount Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-38 defeat against Warren County on the 14th. As for Weldon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-53 loss against Northwest Halifax on the 14th.
