The Salmen Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Franklinton Demons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Salmen will be strutting in after a victory while Franklinton will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Salmen's game was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against De La Salle by a score of 45-33. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Salmen.
Salmen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treasure Mccall led the charge by scoring 12 points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Akayla Mcmooain, who scored eight points along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, Franklinton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-23 defeat at the hands of Pearl River. While losing is never fun, Franklinton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Pearl River is ranked 110th).
Salmen's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-15. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Franklinton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Salmen against Franklinton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 74-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salmen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
