Basketball Recap: Kankakee Trinity Academy Takes a Loss

Kankakee Trinity Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Families of Faith Christian Academy Screaming Eagles, falling 52-22. Kankakee Trinity Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-6.

Despite the loss, Kankakee Trinity Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elise Boerema went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Boerema a new career-high in points.

Families of Faith Christian Academy was led to victory by Lilly Saltzman and Alexis Huizinga. Saltzman posted 17 points, while Huizinga had 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Viken, who put up eight points.

Kankakee Trinity Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Families of Faith Christian Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Kankakee Trinity Academy will face off against Donovan/St. Anne at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Families of Faith Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-17 loss against Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family on the 12th.
