The West Las Vegas Dons fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Bloomfield Bobcats on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bobcats 53-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as West Las Vegas came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Bloomfield is ranked 95th).
It was another big night for Andrew Florez, who scored 21 points for Bloomfield. Sam Slivers was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
West Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Bloomfield, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
West Las Vegas' road trip will continue as they head out to face Shiprock at 9:30 a.m. on January 20th. Bloomfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hot Springs at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th.
