The Uintah Utes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 74-55 fall against Provo. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Utes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JJ Jenson, who scored 17 points. Brayden Murray was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Leading Provo to victory were Aaron Castagnetto and Jason Carter. Castagnetto scored 29 points, while Carter dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Carter hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Makai Allen, who scored six points along with two steals.
Uintah has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Provo, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Uintah will take on the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpanogos is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Provo, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Layton Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,523 points over their last 22 games.
