The Pendleton County Wildcat will venture away from home to face off against the Moorefield Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pendleton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Pendleton County took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pocahontas County as they made off with a 20-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcat considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Jacey Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Abby Judy looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Kinsley Price was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Mitts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Pendleton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
South Harrison hit Moorefield with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellow Jackets took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Yellow Jackets' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Pendleton County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Moorefield, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Pendleton County came out on top in a nail-biter against Moorefield in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Wildcat have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellow Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
