Softball Recap: Northside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Northside won against Cordova last Saturday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Northside put the hurt on the Alabama Christian Academy Eagles with a sharp 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Baylee Appling looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Claire Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Mary Piepho was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are undefeated (5-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Northside, bringing their record up to 7-4-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.25 hits in those games compared to only 5.38 in the others. As for Alabama Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Northside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-0 defeat against Orange Beach on the 14th. As for Alabama Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 loss against Milton on the 14th.
