Lafayette has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Branford Buccaneers at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Lafayette has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Lafayette scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Jefferson County 88-54 at home. Lafayette has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 26 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lafayette to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tywan Williamson, who scored 23 points along with eight assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williamson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Hill, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 21 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Branford was able to grind out a solid victory over Saint Francis Catholic on Friday, taking the game 62-51.
Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Branford, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Lafayette strolled past Branford in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lafayette since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
