Watervliet entered their  game against Greenville  on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cannoneers took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cannoneers of the  3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in September of 2023.
 Watervliet was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Greenville work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 16-25,  28-26.
Watervliet's offense was headlined by  Janaya Wilkerson and  Jaden Sierra, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from  Sophia Rogers and her 13 assists. She was also solid from the service line:  she led the team with five aces.
Watervliet's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Greenville, their  victory (their first of the  season) made their record 1-1-1.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Watervliet will  square off against  rival Germantown  at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Greenville is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Maple Hill  at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
