Washington County extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 1 this week by beating Fruitdale, 51-15. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Bulldogs.
Mobile Christian took down Cottage Hill Christian Academy 54-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Southern Choctaw's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Danny Napier threw for 100 and two touchdowns and LaBrandon Young had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Quentin Adams chipped in 135 yards. Gregory Hill helped Southern Choctaw's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Southern Choctaw's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Napier has thrown for 425 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Young has 10 catches for 202 yards. Adams leads the league in rushing with 680 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Indians take on Leroy. Southern Choctaw's offense has racked up 108 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Bears have allowed only 175 on the year.
A big matchup in 2A Region 1 this week will be when Millry takes on Washington County. The Wildcats are in third place, while Chris Wilson's team is in first place.
Leroy and Satsuma played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Leroy eventually emerging with a 20-17 victory.
