Lakeview suffered their closest loss yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of McKinley by a score of 49-46. That's two games in a row now that Lakeview has lost by exactly three points.
Meanwhile, Mathews' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Pymatuning Valley, falling 50-17. While losing is never fun, Mathews can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 734th, while Pymatuning Valley is ranked 363rd).
Lakeview has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Mathews, they bumped their record down to 3-12 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
