The Purchase Line Red Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Penns Manor 61-26. Purchase Line was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-17.
Several Red Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephen Perruso, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Chambers, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Carter Smith, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Penns Manor. Smith is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Amin Lieb was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Purchase Line dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Penns Manor, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purchase Line will take on the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. River Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Penns Manor, they will head out on the road to challenge the Stingers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marion Center focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
