Basketball Game Preview: Stratton Eagles vs. Deer Trail Eagles

Stratton has gone 3-0 against Deer Trail recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Stratton Eagles will face off against the Deer Trail Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stratton has four straight wins, Deer Trail has 20 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Stratton is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 20, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against Kit Carson as Stratton made off with a 52-32 win. With the Eagles ahead 38-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Stratton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Von Isenbart, who made all 6 shots he took for 13 points and three blocks, and Judson Isenbart, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points. Von has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jaxon Einspahr also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Meanwhile, Deer Trail played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Limon 70-10. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-5.

Stratton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Deer Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything came up roses for Stratton against Deer Trail in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 79-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stratton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
