The Mason Punchers were the 52-37 winner over the Johnson City Eagles when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Mason was beaten by Johnson City 47-19 on Tuesday. Mason's defeat keeps them winless this season.
Johnson City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mccray Jacobs, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Johnny Slawinski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Mason has fallen quite a ways from their 16-5 record last season and are now at 0-5. As for Johnson City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mason will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Saba at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Johnson City will finish 2023 at home by hosting Florence at 9:00 a.m. on December 28th. Florence is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
