Camp Verde is 1-7 against Scottsdale Christian Academy since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cowboys will square off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Camp Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Camp Verde will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Red Rock on Tuesday. The Cowboys were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Scorpions. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Scorpions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Tyler Georgia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Joey Munoz and Gunner Selting did most of the damage at the plate: Munoz scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Selting scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Munoz has posted since back in March of 2024. Deegan Rodriquez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Scottsdale Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Spartans.
Like Camp Verde, Scottsdale Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan Tims. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tims also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Scottsdale Christian Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Tims was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, David Anderson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Trevor Green was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Camp Verde has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Scottsdale Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Camp Verde suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Scottsdale Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cowboys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
