The Wake Prep Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to face off against the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wake Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row dating back to last season, Wake Prep Academy turned things around against Durham School of the Arts on Monday. They blew past the Bulldogs 22-0. The Guardians not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8, 2024.

Lexi Chambers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Chambers, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kyndall Miller was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.
Wake Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durham School of the Arts only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy-Johnston narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Eastern Wayne 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Amelia Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up 19 Ks. Those 19 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, American Leadership Academy-Johnston's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Savanah Peterkin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that Peterkin snagged this season.
Wake Prep Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Wake Prep Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. Wake Prep Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Wake Prep Academy continue to outrun the ball?
