The Haltom Buffalos waltzed into their match Thursday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 71-54 win over Belton. This was payback for Haltom, who suffered a 76-70 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Haltom to victory were Ashton Moore and Kuol Atak. Moore scored 17 points, while Atak dropped a double-double on 26 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Atak has scored at least 25% of Haltom's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Aquarius Barnes, who scored 12 points.
Haltom has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Belton, their loss dropped their record down to 17-2.
Haltom and Mansfield Timberview will face off at 11:00 a.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Belton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Arlington at 9:30 a.m. on December 29th. Arlington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Belton is ranked 79th).
