Grosse Ile extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 5-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Trenton Trojans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since June 4, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Nolan Mcgowan put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Mcgowan wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Chessor, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
As for Trenton, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Grosse Ile since June 1, 2018.
On Trenton's side, Easton Demers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Easton Curry was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
While Grosse Ile had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
