The Eau Gallie Commodores's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 13th straight defeat. They fell 62-49 to Merritt Island. Eau Gallie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Eau Gallie still got an impressive performance from Zander Hengehold, who scored 13 points. Timir Jace was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for Jayce Brandes, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for Merritt Island. Another player making a difference was Hudson Blank, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Eau Gallie dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Merritt Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season.
Eau Gallie will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palm Bay has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 346 points over their last five matches. As for Merritt Island, they will be playing at home against the Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Satellite presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Florida (the Scorpions are ranked 216th, while the Mustangs are ranked 514th).
