The Warhill Lions suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Bruton by a score of 54-51. Warhill has not had much luck with Bruton recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Brandon Freeman was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds for Bruton. Freeman has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Johnathan Hopkins, who scored 11 points.
Warhill's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Bruton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warhill's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Lafayette presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Warhill in Virginia (Lafayette is ranked 47th, while Warhill is ranked 227th). As for Bruton, they will head out on the road to take on Smithfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
