Softball Recap: Montwood Wins Going Away Against Poteet

Montwood entered their tilt with Poteet on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Poteet Pirates a 12-0 shutout. The contest marked the Rams' most dominant win of the season so far.

Verlynne Alvarado looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Soph Sandoval and Jaeda Quinones did most of the damage at the plate: Sandoval scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Quinones scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Sandoval also put up a double, which washer first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isa Salazar, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Montwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Montwood's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Poteet, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Montwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-3 win against Port Neches-Groves on the 15th. As for Poteet, they will take on Princeton in a tournament on Thursday.
