This season hasn't been kind to The Garinger Wildcats, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They were the victim of a tough 29-6 loss at the hands of Rocky River on Friday. Garinger lost against Rocky River in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-9 score last time.
Rocky River can attribute much of their success to Jaylen Byrd, who rushed for 98 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Brown, who gained 89 total yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Rocky River's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Steven Muin and his three sacks.
Garinger's loss was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-9 Harding University and 2-9 East Mecklenburg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 45% over those games). As for Rocky River, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Garinger does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rocky River also has no future games currently scheduled.
