Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Wins Going Away Against Greer

The matchup between Blue Ridge and Greer on Tuesday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Fighting Tigers put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 15-8 victory. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Blue Ridge got a massive performance out of Grace Thompkins, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Brynlee Bayne, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Blue Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 9-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Blue Ridge pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Greer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12-2 record this season.
