The Branford Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Fort White Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Branford is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Branford took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Chiefland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Branford had just enough and edged out Chiefland 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buccaneers have posted since April 29, 2024.
Patrick Williams made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Branford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Troy Roberts was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jackson Skinner, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fort White's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Tuesday. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lafayette. The loss put an end to the Indians' undefeated start to the season.
Fort White saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Parnell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Branford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort White, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Branford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fort White struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Branford couldn't quite finish off Fort White in their previous matchup back in February and fell 6-4. Can Branford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
