The Farmington Scorpions will be taking part in a tournament against the Los Lunas Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Farmington has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Farmington had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Hobbs put an end to it on Friday. The Scorpions lost 15-2 to the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Scorpions have lost by exactly 13 runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Los Lunas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Clovis by a score of 10-7. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Jeremiah Mondragon looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Jasiah Byers was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mark Scime, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
Los Lunas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win snapped Los Lunas' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for Farmington, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Farmington skirted past Los Lunas 4-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2020. Do the Scorpions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
