The Basha Bears won against the Mountain Pointe Pride on Tuesday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Basha strolled past Mountain Pointe with points to spare, taking the game 55-40. Given Basha's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grace Beckler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Beckler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey O'Connor, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, Mountain Pointe saw an underclassman step up: Nia Rowe scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rowe has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alaya Sumler, who scored eight points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Basha and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Mountain Pointe, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Basha won't have much time to rest: their next match is against O'Connor at 7:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully O'Connor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Mountain Pointe, they will be playing at home against McClintock at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. McClintock's defense has only allowed 23 points per game this season, so Mountain Pointe's offense will have their work cut out for Mountain Pointe.
