The Zanesville Blue Devils were the 73-50 winner over the Lakewood Lancers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Zanesville took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakewood on Tuesday. Zanesville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Zanesville still got an impressive performance from Rashaud Hampton, who scored 21 points. Hampton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Drew Doyle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Zanesville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Lakewood, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Zanesville will head out on the road to take on Licking Heights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Licking Heights presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zanesville in Ohio (Licking Heights is ranked 49th, while Zanesville is ranked 400th). As for Lakewood, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Utica at 7:15 p.m. Lakewood is facing Utica at the right time seeing as Utica is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
