1A Tri-Peaks recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Salida, who took down 176th ranked Salida, 30-22.
Alec Coscarella and Dan Logar provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Custer County. The connection went for 65 yards, the longest such play in 1A Tri-Peaks this season.
Buena Vista's dynamic duo of Koby Close and Josh Williams proved tough for Rye to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Close threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns and Williams had 82 yards receiving. Dakoda DeFurio helped Buena Vista's passing attack out by catching three balls for 44 yards.
Williams made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Demons defeated the Thunderbolts. The 6-foot-2 senior pulled down two interceptions.
Jim Kenney was the most productive running back in the league this week. In eight carries, he ran for 157 yards as Colorado Springs Christian bested Rye. TJ Stockton also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.
5-foot-11 quarterback Dan Kenney of the Lions is the league leader in passing yards this season with 472. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, Peyton's Tyler Lashley has rushed for 694 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Logar. The Peyton star has nine catches for 211 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Tri-Peaks this week will be when the Demons take on the Panthers. As it stands, Buena Vista is in first, while Peyton is in third.
The Demons extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Thunderbolts, 37-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for Buena Vista.
