Plumas Charter is a perfect 3-0 against Portola since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Plumas Charter will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Plumas Charter's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Dunsmuir with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Colton McDonald and Blake Metcalf made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, McDonald struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Metcalf tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, McDonald went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Metcalf went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Those two RBI gave McDonald a new career-high.

In other batting news, Plumas Charter got a massive performance out of Dalton Bentz, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Bentz is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Jhett Neer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Portola fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Quincy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 11-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Plumas Charter, Portola also got a great game from a two-way player: Ricky Richardson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Richardson has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Richardson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Leal, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another was Tanner Vankol, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Plumas Charter pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Portola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Plumas Charter beat Portola 6-2 in their previous meeting on April 8th. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
