Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Aldine recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eisenhower took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Nimitz. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Abraham Medina made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Eisenhower is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-11 otherwise. Medina was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Medina wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Gourley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Gourley is becoming a predictor of Eisenhower's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-13 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Aldine had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Falcons.
Like Eisenhower, Aldine also got a great game from a two-way player: Jansyel Barbosa. Throwing, Barbosa struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Gabriel Nunez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barbosa has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Barbosa scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Nunez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alberto Gonzalez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Alexander Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Eisenhower's record is now 8-13. As for Aldine, their record now sits at 15-3.
Eisenhower skirted past Aldine 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
