The Pasquotank County Panthers lost a heartbreaker to the Currituck County Knights when they met back in February of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Pasquotank County fell 75-68 to Currituck County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Pasquotank County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tristan Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Brandon Smith who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Jayon Harris was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Currituck County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Morgan out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Morgan hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Cowell, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Pasquotank County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Currituck County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pasquotank County will challenge First Flight at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Flight is coming into the match with eight straight wins at home, so Pasquotank County is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Currituck County, they will head out on the road to take on Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
