Silver hasn't had much luck against Deming recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Fighting Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.
Silver is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Santa Teresa. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Fighting Colts were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deming). Everything went their way against Chaparral on Wednesday as they made off with a 22-5 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five matches in a row.
Estevan Mariscal made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Mosier, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Jose Duran was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Deming kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Deming's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Silver, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
Silver might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Deming when the teams last played on Monday. Will the Fighting Colts have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
