Sullivan barely beat South Knox the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Arrows blew past the Spartans 12-1 on Saturday. Considering the Golden Arrows have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Mylee Vandevender was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Vandevender was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Sullivan let Jaylynn Hobbs and Katelynn Lynn run wild. Hobbs went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Lynn went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most runs Hobbs has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Howard, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Sullivan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Sullivan's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for South Knox, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sullivan will head out to face off against South Putnam at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Knox, they will venture away from home to challenge Vincennes Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
