St. Albans waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Sidwell Friends Quakers. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Jerry O'Connell looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caleb Kim was excellent, going 5-for-6 with two RBI and one double. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Henry Evans was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

St. Albans' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-12. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sidwell Friends, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-4.

St. Albans and Sidwell Friends should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps District of Columbia Rankings. The Bulldogs will face off against St. Stephen's & St. Agnes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (42 vs. 247). Meanwhile, Sidwell Friends (ranked second) will meet Gonzaga (ranked 30th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Quakers 3.9, the Eagles 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
