The Jacobs Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Dundee-Crown Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Jacobs gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Crystal Lake Central with a sharp 19-11 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Olivia Fillipp was a standout: she went 3-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Disilvio, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Jacobs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Dundee-Crown came out on top against Harvard on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Chargers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hornets a 10-0 shutout. The Chargers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18th (when they won 11-1).
Dundee-Crown got a massive performance out of Jordyn Jeffs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emily Einhorn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Jacobs' record is now 13-16. As for Dundee-Crown, their record now sits at 9-17.
Dundee-Crown's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Jacobs has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dundee-Crown, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Jacobs keep running through batters, or will the Chargers buck the trend?
Everything went Jacobs' way against Dundee-Crown when the teams last played back in April, as Jacobs made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
