The Granby Comets will challenge the Bethel Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Granby will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Granby is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Nansemond River.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Bethel made sure to put some runs up on the board against Kecoughtan on Thursday. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Warriors. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ryder Zeman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Jaycob Miller was excellent, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Yucaree Felton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Bethel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kecoughtan only posted an OBP of .161.
Granby's record now sits at 12-7. As for Bethel, their record is now 8-12.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Granby has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Bethel struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Granby might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Bethel in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
