Baseball Recap: Ecorse Wins Going Away Against Clarenceville

Ecorse's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Clarenceville Trojans as they made off with a 16-7 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Elijah Carl and Kaleb Chandler were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Carl tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Chandler pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Carl got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Chandler went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Ecorse got a massive performance out of Michael Barclay, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Barclay a new career-high. Korry Buxton was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Ecorse's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Clarenceville, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ecorse will take on Cass Tech at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Clarenceville, they will square off against Thurston at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
