The Pilgrim Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-27 walloping at the hands of San Fernando Valley Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Pilgrim has suffered since November 14, 2023.
San Fernando Valley Academy was led to victory by Neprix Sisona and Isaac Herrera. Sisona scored 13 points along with four steals and two blocks, while Herrera dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Herrera has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Corral, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Pilgrim's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for San Fernando Valley Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pilgrim will take on Mesrobian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Fernando Valley Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Summit View at 3:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Summit View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
