The Evansville Memorial Tigers were the 57-50 winner over the South Knox Spartans when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Evansville Memorial took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Knox.
Evansville Memorial's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Johnson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The contest was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Kelley, who scored 13 points.
Evansville Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for South Knox, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Evansville Memorial's road trip will continue as they head out to face Evansville Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Evansville Central will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. South Knox will take on Washington Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
