It was a good run, but the Marathon Red Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Mosinee by a score of 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Keagen Jirschele, who scored 26 points along with eight steals for Mosinee. Jirschele has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Thomer, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Marathon's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-1. As for Mosinee, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Marathon on the road again on Thursday and play against Athens at 7:15 p.m. on January 18th. Athens is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Mosinee, they will be playing at home against Edgar at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
