The Lakewood Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 11th straight defeat. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evergreen. Lakewood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Dyani Parrish, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Sanders, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evergreen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elle Buenning, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Buenning hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Taylor Bailey was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Lakewood dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for Evergreen, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Lakewood will head out on the road to challenge the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chatfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Colorado (the Chargers are ranked 46th, while the Tigers are ranked 190th). As for Evergreen, they will be playing at home against the Farmers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
