Salina Central has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Andover Central Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
After soaring to a 30-point victory in their last game, Salina Central came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Derby by a score of 50-47.
Meanwhile, Andover Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past Eisenhower with points to spare, taking the game 64-47. That's two games straight that Andover Central has won by exactly 17 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andover Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Brown, who scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody DeGarmo, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Salina Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Andover Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Salina Central lost to the Jaguars on the road by a decisive 60-46 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Salina Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
