The Anthony Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to McCamey 52-46. Anthony was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as McCamey apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Anthony still got an impressive performance from Julie Cuellar, who scored 29 points. That was a full 63% of Anthony's points, marking the 22nd time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aissa Castillo, who scored 17 points.
Anthony has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for McCamey, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anthony will square off against Fort Hancock at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Hancock will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for McCamey, they will head out on the road to challenge Wink at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wink will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
