Baseball Recap: Limon Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Limon had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the St. Mary's Pirates a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Badgers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brody Scherrer and Brooks Scherrer made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Scherrer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Brooks pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brody also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Limon is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise. At bat, Scherrer went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Brooks went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Brody has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Yoder, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Haflich, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Limon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive games.

Limon's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Limon nor St. Mary's have any future games scheduled.
