The Highland Huskies will face off against the Wray Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Highland is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Merino just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 10-9.

Brandon Garcia and Byron Berkheimer stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garcia went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Berkheimer went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Berkheimer is becoming a predictor of Highland's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Shawn Dutton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wray ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Yuma 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Indians since April 29, 2023.
Carson Helling was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brodie Riggleman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Wray is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Highland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wray struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Highland's way against Wray when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Highland made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
