Softball Recap: Chilhowie Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Chilhowie barely beat Rural Retreat the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors blew past the Indians 12-2 on Thursday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Payton Hester, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Denessa Martin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Chilhowie's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rural Retreat, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chilhowie will challenge Holston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rural Retreat, they will take on Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
