The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 50-20 loss at the hands of Sedgwick County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Haxtun in their matchups with Sedgwick County: they've now lost seven in a row.
Haxtun's loss came despite strong showings from Emily Anderson and Cassidy Goddard. Anderson scored six points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Goddard scored ten points along with two steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Goddard posted two or more blocks.
Sedgwick County was led to victory by Abigail Dille and Lainee Nein. Dille scored 14 points along with three steals, while Nein scored 11 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Dille is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryen Carlson, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Haxtun's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Sedgwick County, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Haxtun won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Otis at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Otis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Friday. As for Sedgwick County, they will head out on the road to square off against Garden County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Garden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Saturday.
