Colusa extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 12-9. They came up short against the West Valley Eagles, falling 16-10. That's two games in a row now that the RedHawks have lost by exactly six runs.
Braelyn Santana was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Peyton Miller was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
As for West Valley, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 19-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games.
On West Valley's side, Cadynce Gippner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Gippner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Pemberton, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Coral Tozer, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Colusa has already played their next game, a 7-7 tie against Spring Creek on the 25th. As for West Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 24-8 win against Anderson on the 28th.
